August 6 – Life in the Spirit – Galatians 5
When we crucify the flesh with our fleshly affections and lusts, we are able to live in the Spirit. Just because we live in the Spirit does not mean we walk or follow the Spirit. If we walk after the flesh, we will have the following evidences: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, and revelings. If we walk after the Spirit, we will have the following evidences: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. These evidences appear only after we walk after the flesh or the Spirit. It really is our choice to have a temper problem or have patience. When we choose to walk after the flesh we have chosen to have anger issues in our life. When we choose to walk after the Spirit we have chosen to have patience. Let us not blame family, past crisis, past mistakes, past offenses, or present circumstances for the byproduct of our walking in the flesh. God loves you and wants the best for you. God wants you to have the fruits of the Spirit, but we must walk after the Spirit.
