March 6 – Jeremiah – Jeremiah 1, 18, 32
Jeremiah was called to service by God at an early age. God points out to Jeremiah that before he was born, God had a specific purpose for Jeremiah. It is important to help our children understand that God has a specific purpose for them. God has revealed His will to many missionaries, pastors, and evangelists when they were still children.
Jeremiah uses the phrase “word of the Lord” 148 times out of the 415 times it is used in the Old Testament. Jeremiah, also known as the “weeping prophet,” wrote the book of Lamentations as well. He repeatedly warned the people about the vanity of their self-reliance including ritualism, formalism, and meaningless outward piety. Jeremiah grew tired of bringing God’s message of judgment to an unresponsive people. America has fallen into the ditch of self-righteousness where every man is doing that which is right in their own eyes. Many justify murdering babies with their right hand, and then bring attention to the righteous act of their left hand bringing aid to hurricane survivors. Just as Jeremiah never quit preaching the judgment to come to seemingly deaf ears, neither should we quit sharing the coming judgment on those who do not trust Jesus Christ as their only door to Heaven.
1 John 5:12-13 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
