December 14 – Comfort for the Disciples – John 14
Jesus promises the “Comforter” or Holy Spirit for those that love Him and keep His commandments. This Comforter will always be with you (verse 16). This Comforter will comfort you (verse18). This Comforter will teach you and help you to remember Jesus’ teachings (verse 26). This Comforter will bring peace (verse 27). All these attributes are our own choice to utilize or cast aside. It is quite simple . . . we either choose to love Christ and obey His commandments or we do not.
I would like to leave you one quick note about prayer before leaving this chapter. Have you ever wondered why many people end their prayer with the words “In Jesus Name, Amen?” Read verses 13 and 14. Now you know!
