Moses is getting lots of grief from multitudes of people at every turn. You can tell he’s exhausted. In these two chapters, we see three important people helping take the load off of Moses.
First when the people came across Amalek and they fought the people of Israel, As long as Moses held up his hands, the people prevailed but when his hands fell, Amalek prevailed. Aaron and Hur decide to help Moses by giving him a stone to lean against and holding his arms up for him. It was vitally important for the battle and Israel prevailed. It’s important for us to remember to be sensitive to the needs of others. Are you there for your friends and family for them to lean on in trying times?
Next, we hear that Moses is overwhelmed with some of his newfound responsibilities, so Jethro, his father-in-law, gives him wise and wonderful counsel on how to delegate responsibilities so it all doesn’t fall upon Moses. It’s important that we all have people in our lives that can counsel us when we are having troubles. I love being a part of a church that has lots of people with grey hair, which means there is a lot of sources of wise counsel and experience!
So even people back then got advice from there father in law
Wooooo Hoooooo!! First to Comment!
Seeking godly advice is smart. Following godly advice is veeeeerrrry smart!
We should accept help when ever we need it like Moses and Joshua.
Right you are! Sometimes we allow our pride to prevent us from accepting help.
Sunday Exodus 19:
We should do exactly what God tells and how He tells us.
This is part of obedience. To separate how we are to obey is disobedience.
Monday Exodus 20
anything that you put above God is an idol.
Way to go on getting out your comments!
This is an extremely touchy topic among Christians today, but it is important. We all will agree that we should not put an idol above God, but have big opinions on what an idol is. Sports can be a good thing, but it can also be an idol. Video games, movies, hobbies, making money, and even a ministry can be placed above God thus becoming an idol.
Exodus 20, Tuesday
This chapter was about the Ten Commandments, really liked verse 12.
’’Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.’’
I think this is why people in the Bible lived so long. Because they just OBEYED their parents and HONOUR them.
Love to see verses that mean something to you. There are definitely blessing wrapped around going further than just obeying your parents. The blessings when honoring your parents are not given for anything else in the Bible! THINK ABOUT THAT!!!
oops!!!
Exodus 20, Monday
Monday Exodus 20
In the Bible it said God is a jealous God. But it also says thou shalt not covet. what is the difference? Is jealousy a sin?
Great question! Anybody want to guess or look it up in a dictionary?
