Due to their sin, God tells the people we won’t be going forward with them. This is terrible news! God had been the only reason that they had made it out of Egypt and survived this long. The people repent and after another intercession from Moses, God again sheds his endless grace on the people.
I really like Exodus 33:11 where it says that the Lord talked to Moses like he was talking to his friend. It’s very clear that Moses had such a close relationship with God. He even let Moses see his back because Moses wouldn’t be able to see the glory of his face and survive. The Bible said that God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and covered him with his hand as he went by.
Jesus is our rock. God sent Christ so that we could get a glimpse of the father. Although we can’t see God, we can see aspects of his glory through the perfect life of Jesus. And like the cleft in the rock, Jesus was wounded and sacrificed for us, that we can be saved through abiding in him.
Wow! So many great thoughts packed into three short paragraphs. What conviction can you pull from today’s Bible Reading?
to have a closer walk with God and talk to Him as much as i would a friend.
