Insight:
Moses must have had some sort of speech impediment or stutter that caused him to question the task that God had given him. Although God created Moses and his mouth and chose him for this important job, this reality didn’t make up for Moses’ insecurities about his ability to do the job to God’s standard.
When we’re saved, we have the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of us and can work through us, He can even give us the words to say in trying situations. Moses was relying too heavily on his imperfect flesh to complete a job that in our current dispensation, should be led by the Holy Spirit.
Question:
Do you allow the Holy Spirit to guide you whether in conversation with others, or doing something for somebody else, or do you tend to make up excuses? Parents train children, employees train workers, even dog trainers train dogs. How can we be trained or train ourselves to be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit?
Great thought to start the day!
I noticed in the last verse that the Israelites bowed their heads and worshipped God. Worshipping the true, holy God should always cause us to humbly bow our heads. Notice they did not praise God by raising their hands. While it is good to praise God, it is necessary to worship God. Why did they bow and worship? Because they “believed.” They believed God loved and cared for them. God loves you and cares about your circumstances, your struggles, your failures, your successes, your hurts, your depression, your comfort, and your joy. When you realize and believe that an Almighty God loves and cares for you, it will humble you, then you cannot help but pray and thank the only holy God in worship.
What is a thought you had on this chapter?
God won’t lead in a direction you cannot go. whatever he has asked you to do might seem impossible for you but he wouldn’t ask you to do something unless he thought you could do it.
(girls are the best though!) 🙂 🙂 🙂
Agreed! . . . . . . except the last line.
I wonder if the Hebrews already had known about God and they thought that he had finally sent someone to deliver them, or when Moses came it was the first time some of them had heard about him.
(but i’m sure that all of the Hebrew girls knew God, just the boys didn’t)
We know they had been in slavery for hundreds of years. Moses’ parents knew God, so I would assume many others would know God as well. I wonder why they chose not to believe that God would or could deliver them. I do think the BOYZ knew God!!
I agree with you Reese girls know everything 😉
I’ve been asking myself this question for awhile, why do people in bible times live longer than people now?
The simple answer is “sin.”
Sarah, Dalton, or Chloe: When did people start living much shorter in the Bible?
If you answer this question, you will be very close to the answer to Bekah’s original question.
Cmon girls! Beat Dalton!!! We are talking about a big important event in the Bible!!!
Wasn’t it after the flood?
Yes sir!
Its because before the flood there was a layer of protection around the earth that was actually water it made the air we breath cleaner and everthing in general healthier. But when the flood happened God opened up the heavens and that protective layer was the water that covered the earth. so now without that protective layer the air is more polluted and nothing is as healthy as it was in the Bible times.
and that dear Bekah is why life is so short
AMEN and AMEN

It is cool how God used what Moses had right then and there.
God wants to use you, faults and all!
Moses used a sad excuse of speech impediment to get away from preaching. Moses` excuse can also be worded as rebellion. It’s kinda cool to think that when we went to the youth rally Friday and Saturday they had also preached on rebellion and todays devotions was about rebellion. Sad to say, a lot of people use excuses to get away from God in this generation. So when god askes us to do something ‘’Just Do It.’’
Pretty sure BOYZ are the BEEESSSSTTTTT
Great time at the Youth Rally! Let’s never forget when God speaks to our hearts.
you funny if you think boys are half as amazingly awesomely awesome as GIRLS!!!!
