June 15 – Judgment Arrives – Jeremiah 52
King Zedekiah had a rebellious spirit toward the Lord. This chapter outlines the punishment allowed due to the rebellion against God. Some of the events are painful for Zedekiah, like all of his sons being put to death in front of Zedekiah just before his own eyesight was taken. Some of the events were against God’s people as a whole. One major thing to note through all of this is that sin does not go unpunished. You may not pay for it right away, but the consequences of sin does catch up to you. Zedekiah could choose his actions when he rebelled against the Lord, but he could not choose the consequences that God chose to deliver. Remember sin will take you farther than you want to go, and cost you more than you want to pay. Zedekiah could have avoided all of this if he chose to stay focused on pleasing God.
