June 26 – Jesus Explains “Born Again” – John 3

Nicodemus came to Jesus by night to learn more about Jesus’ teachings.  Nicodemus was a Pharisee and ruler among the Jews which means he was already very religious and had much knowledge about he Scriptures.  When questioned about His miracles, Jesus replied that man had to be born again to see the kingdom of God.  Of course this perplexed Nicodemus.  How was a man to be born again?  To enter his mother’s womb is impossible.  Jesus explains that the spirit must born again.  As the spirit of man died when Adam and Eve sinned, it is now imperative that the spirit be born again, not only to go to Heaven, but also to have fellowship with God.  Until you deal with your sin, God will not hear your prayers.  Until you ask forgiveness of your sins, and trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour; you do not have an intercessor to speak to God.  This repentance and acceptance of Jesus (the Son of God) as your Saviour is known as being “born again.”  Until you are born again, God chooses not to hear your requests.

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”    Isaiah 59:2
