November 12 – God’s Mercy on Display – Psalm 136

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  Psalm 136:1.  Every verse in this chapter end in “his mercy endureth forever.”  As we read thru this chapter, note how many times God’s creation is mentioned.  When we see the sun, moon, and stars, it is supposed to remind us of God’s mercy, and provoke a thanksgiving to God.  When we remember God’s deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt, we are to be reminded of God’s mercy, and provoke us to give thanksgiving to God.  When we think how God takes care of our daily needs, we are to be reminded of God’s mercy, and it should provoke a thanksgiving to God.  Let us read the last verse of the chapter and give thanks for God’s great mercy.  “O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  Psalm 136:26
