October 29 – Imitating Christ – Philippians 2

Philippians 2:5  “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”  Verses 1-11 gives us some idea of how to achieve having the mind of Christ, as well as why we should have the mind of Christ.  Being likeminded (same values), same love, same accord (the same soul), of one mind (same goals), not allowing our actions to be motivated by strife (emotions) or personal glory, having lowliness of mind (correct attitude), and thinking of others are all traits leading up to having the mind of Christ.  Having the mind of Christ is not just knowledge about God, or an attitude toward God.  Your relationship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ is directly related to having the mind of Christ.  Being humble, being a servant, and obedience to God’s will are three results of having the mind of Christ.  The “why” to having the mind of Christ is answered in verses 9-11.

Two thoughts to think on throughout the day are:

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”  We are privileged for God to work in us to others, and our focus should be to please God.

Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings:”  This verse has no exceptions.  We are not to complain or argue.  To complain or argue is to put out our light we are to be shining for Christ.
