June 9 – Miracle Man 2 – II Kings 6:1-23

“And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.  And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”  2 Kings 6:16-17

These verses reveal much about Elisha.  The young man with Elisha was fearful when he saw the Syrian Army surround the city for the specific purpose of capturing Elisha.  When the young man expressed his anguish of not knowing what to do, Elisha asked the Lord to open the eyes of the young man.  What the young man would fill anyone with confidence.  He saw the mountains surrounding the city full of horses and chariots of fire there for their protection.  Elisha proceeds to strike the Syrians with blindness to lead them back to Syria.  The interesting thing about this story is the fact that the story never revealed that Elisha saw the chariots of fire.  Elisha just trusted God and had faith that he would be protected.  He never saw the protection, but was confident just the same.  Let me assure you that as a child of God, you are protected.  I wonder how much confidence we would have if God opened our eyes to see God’s protection as it really it.  But then that wouldn’t be faith, would it?  Without faith it is impossible to please God.  Can you imagine the peace we forfeit, the stress we take on, and the worry that keep us up at night; just because we do not trust God to take care of us?  God loves you, just believe Him!
