January 13 – Amram & Jochebed – Exodus 1:1 thru 2:10

Amram and Jochebed were Moses’ parents (Exodus 6:20).  We learn that it is possible to make godly decisions in very hard times.  Exodus 1:14 describes Amram and Jochebed’s life as “bitter with hard bondage.”  They were slaves with seemingly no hope of anything different for their children.  Why would a parent be willing to put their own life in danger by preserving the life of their child, when that child’s life will be “bitter with hard bondage?”  Hebrews 11:23 points to their faith as the reason defying the government and preserving Moses’ life.  Moses accomplished great things in his life, but none of it would have happened without the faith of his parents.  Hats off to godly parents going through a very stressful, hopeless time; willing to make decisions based on their faith in God.  Do you have faith in God?  Can He handle your problems today?  Does He give you answers to life’s questions in His Word?  Will you let Him guide your steps today?
