March 3 – Solomon – Proverbs 2-4

Solomon has the reputation as the wisest man in the Bible.  He received his wisdom simply by asking God for it.  Although Solomon is considered very wise, it is ironic that such a simple tool of satan was used in his downfall.  We learn that to have wisdom does not guarantee one will actually practice it.

In today’s reading Solomon is primarily giving advice to a son.  It is easy to get overwhelmed by so many great truths and principles.   Let me encourage you to pick a verse from each chapter and meditate on that.  One of my favorites is found in Proverbs 3:5-7.  If we could put into practice the principles in these three verses, our lives would be revolutionized, but if is going to affect us, we will need to fulfill the principle completely.  For instance:  many of us trust in the Lord, but few do it with ALL their heart.
