September 10 – The Woman at the Well – John 4
The woman at the well got saved and was changed. The woman at the well was a Samaritan. A Samaritan was a mixed race between the Jews and the Syrians, the enemy of the Jews. The Jews despised the Samaritans so much that when they travelled, they would go miles out of their way not to come in contact with them. Jesus, a Jew, travelled right through Samaria and witnessed to the only one that would listen to him. This woman at the well made four steps to becoming a child of God and gaining a home in heaven. 1) She admitted her need or thirst, verse 15. 2) She admitted her sin, verse 19. 3) She admitted a Messiah, verse 25. 4) She admitted that Christ is the Messiah, verse 29. Once saved, she could not contain her excitement over becoming a child of God. She wanted to introduce everybody to Jesus Christ. The woman at the well got saved and was obviously changed. Have you admitted your need, admitted your sin, admitted a need for a Saviour or Messiah, and admitted Jesus Christ is that Messiah? Have you been saved as the Bible outlines is the only way one can become saved? If you have been saved, what has changed in your life? Who have you tried to introduce to Jesus Christ? Have you become a silent Christian? Being saved and speaking up for Jesus go hand in hand throughout the entire Bible. Is there such a thing as a silent Christian? Is it possible that many might think or claim to be a Christian, but are actually not saved? It was clear that the woman at the well, as sinful as her life was, was truly born again.
Matthew 7:20-23 “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Matthew 10:32-33 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
