October 17 – Paul Tells His Story to a King – Acts 26
As a prisoner Paul is brought before King Agrippa. Paul tells the King about his past as a Pharisee, and a persecutor of Christians (verses 5, 9-11). Paul explains to King Agrippa what changed his life. Verses 14 thru 18, Paul tells about his salvation experience and God’s calling on his life. He explains to the King why he has been arrested in verses 20-21. Governor Festus accuses Paul of being crazy, but Paul immediately replied that he is speaking the truth. Paul turns his attention back to King Agrippa as calls for him to make a decision to believe in Christ. Sadly, King Agrippa utters the statement “almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”
This brief hearing challenges me to speak up for Christ. Too many times I can portray an apologetic attitude while telling others about Christ. Paul was quite bold in his presenting of his testimony. He was not abrasive, but he spoke the truth unashamedly. After Paul gave his testimony with the gospel, he called for a decision from those listening. Here is another challenge for me as I tell others about Christ. How about you? What can you learn and apply from this passage?
