October 1 – Elijah Speaks to a Land-Grabbing King – 1 Kings 21
It cost King Ahab and Queen Jezebel their lives for what they did to Naboth. Naboth was falsely accused and stoned under Queen Jezebel’s direction. Ahab gladly received the stolen vineyard that was his inheritance. God exercises capital punishment on Ahab and Jezebel. Without punishment for crime, evil will continue to thrive. Ahab did not humble himself and repent until judgment was handed down to him. We cannot expect true rehabilitation of a criminal while slapping them on the wrist and hoping they learn from it. There have been many a young person to step into crime, because he did not fear the punishment. Many people do not get saved, because they do not fear God and the reality of Hell.
