December 10 – Raising Lazarus from the Grave – John 11
In this chapter, Jesus performs one of His most well known miracles when He raises Lazarus from the dead. It was indeed spectacular with many truths weaved into the fabric of the story. Learning that Jesus is never late to give us help, and Mary and Martha’s continued faith in Christ even though it seemed like He failed them are just a couple of the truths to apply to ones life. I would like to point out the reason Jesus allowed Lazarus to die instead of healing him while he was still sick. Verse four depicts the proper attitude for every Christian when facing a challenge. Upon hearing of Lazarus’ sickness, Jesus saw this as an opportunity for God to be glorified. What a difference it would make in our approach to difficult times if we would approach our troubles the same way! The next time a trouble arises in your day, why not look at it and ask God to solve the problem in a way that He will be glorified? Just as in this story, do not be surprised if the answer does not come until God’s timing is perfect. I must warn you. If you do this, your faith will grow and you will be blessed!
