August 11 – The Story of Jesus’ Birth – Luke 2
Notice how many people recognized that baby Jesus was born to be the Messiah. Jesus is the Son of God which Scripture repeats time and again. Mary and Joseph knew that the Holy Spirit had planted Jesus inside of Mary, and that Jesus was the Son of God. The Shepherds came to see Jesus and knew that He was their Saviour. Simeon was told by the Holy Ghost that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ, and he recognized Jesus as the Saviour. Anna the Prophetess gave thanks for Jesus being sent by God as their Messiah. It very important that we too recognize that Jesus was born from the seed of the Holy Spirit, and is the Son of God.
We do not know much about the childhood of Jesus, but we do know that at 12 years of age He had enough wisdom and knowledge to astound the doctors when in conversation with them. We do know Jesus understood at 12 years of age that He was the Son of God, and He had a mission from the Heavenly Father that He must pursue. We do know that, as a young man, Jesus continued to mature in the sight of man and God.
