January 4 – Abraham – Genesis 15, 17, 22; & Romans 4:1-5, 9-25

Abraham is a key figure throughout the Bible.  The Abrahamic covenant lays the foundation for a meaningful relationship with God.  The Israelites were descendants of Abraham, and were God’s chosen people.  God wanted to be their God, but it was up to the Israelites to choose God.  They would show that they chose God by the actions to be set apart from the world, and to obey the laws God established.

If you have repented of your sin, and placed your faith in Jesus Christ; you are a child of God.  Just like we have higher expectations from our own children’s behavior and obedience; so God expects His children to obey, and be set apart from the world.

Where in the Bible does God give us ways that He expects Christians to be set apart from the world?
