January 18 – Caleb – Joshua 14:6 thru 15:19

Why did Caleb feel that he had a right to ask Joshua for a specific area of the Promised Land?  Joshua 14:9 states that Moses promised Caleb this land because he “wholly followed the Lord.”  Caleb wholly (fully or completely) followed God; therefore, he expected God’s blessings in his life.  He believed God keeps His promises.  Do you believe the Bible?  Do you believe that God keeps His promises?  Do you believe in Timothy 4:15?

Note how Caleb did not ask for a life of ease and pleasure.  He was asking for the country where the Anakims lived.  A land of giants and well-fortified cities.  Anything worth having is worth fighting for.  It is a fight against satan and our flesh to have a relationship with God, but it is worth fighting for.  It is a fight against satan and our flesh to have a godly home, but it is worth fighting for.  The same could be said for a pure mind, fruitful life, happy marriage, or anything else that pleases God.  Just remember the reward is worth the fight!
